Confucius Institute to conduct Crash Course in Chinese
Studying Abroad in China this summer?

College Station, Texas – February, 2012-Tai Chi has long been recognized for its benefits in health maintenance and therapy. Now it has improved the quality of life for an American practitioner, Angela, 82, who participated in a three week pilot class of Tai Chi for Fall Prevention at the Confucius Institute at Texas A&M University in January. In a letter to the Tai Chi teacher, Suzanne Droleskey, Assistant Vice President for International Programs at Texas A&M, she wrote:

6th Annual Lunar New Year Celebration at Texas A&M
College Station, Texas, January 26 – Over 2,300 students, faculty, and staff at Texas A&M University as well as members of the Bryan and College Station communities gathered to welcome the year of the dragon at the 6th Annual Lunar New Year Celebration on January 26, 2012. This year’s celebration was organized by the Confucius Institute (CI), Department of International Affairs, and Dining Services. The event was also supported by a generous donation from Wells Fargo Bank.

The Confucius Institute at Texas A&M University cordially invites you to this year’s Lunar New Year Celebration and Dinner at Sbisa Dining Center at 6:00 pm on January 26th. The celebration promises to be a wonderful evening beginning with a traditional Lion Dance and Kung Fu presentation outside Sbisa. In addition to the great performances, Sbisa Dining Center will be serving a diverse Asian buffet dinner in honor of the Lunar New Year. This year, we are proud to announce that we will feature two prestigious guest chefs from Pho John’s and the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

TAMU Cadets Engage Chinese Counterparts
From May 19-30, 2011, twenty-four Texas A&M University cadets traveled to China and Taiwan to participate in the 2011 Corps of Cadets International Excursion-East Asia program. Through this high-impact international learning experience, the cadets were afforded the opportunity to visit key cultural sites in the cities of Beijing, Qingdao and Taipei, and to participate in briefings and lectures from key US and Chinese military and government leaders, academics and journalists.
