August 21, 2008 -Melbern G. Glasscock Center for the Humanities Research Invites Applications for New Fellowship Opportunities
The Melbern G. Glasscock Center for the Humanities Research and the Confucius Institute invite applications for the new Confucius Institute/Glasscock Center Faculty Stipendiary Fellowship, which supports humanities research on China’s history, culture, and society, and is available on an annual rotation basis. The fellowship is open to faculty from all disciplines for humanities oriented research, and is available on an annual rotation basis. Stipendiary Fellows receive a $1,500 research bursary to support normally reimbursable research expenses. These funds may be used for any direct costs associated with sustaining significant research, for travel to overseas libraries, archives, museum, or cultural or natural sites directly related to research, for publication of research, and for other justified costs. Recipients are expected to participate in the intellectual life of the Glasscock Center as well as the Confucius Institute throughout the fellowship year.
The sponsors are especially interested in funding research that contributes to the international research profile of the university, and makes a significant academic contribution to understanding the cultures, literatures, histories, religions, and societies of greater China, including mainland China, Taiwan, Macao, Hong Kong, and the overseas Chinese communities. Although historical research is welcome, studies of contemporary Chinese society are also solicited.
