September 29 - October 3, 2009- China week

The Confucius Institute and  the Association of Chinese Students and Scholars are co-hosting a China Week from September 29 to October 3 to celebrate Chinese Culture and the upcoming China-U.S. Relations Conference co-hosted by Texas A&M University, October 21-23 in Beijing.  (http://china-us.tamu.edu/). This year marks the 30th anniversary of China-U.S. diplomatic relationship and the 60th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. The China Week will feature a series of interactive activities that introduce Chinese culture to A&M campus and to the communities of College Station and Bryan

6:30p.m-7:30p.m., Tuesday, September 29, Sbisa Dining Hall
Opening Ceremony of the China Week—Lion dance, Kong Fu show, Chinese folk dance and instrument variety show

11:00a.m.-4:00p.m., Wednesday, September 30, Exhibit Hall, Rudder Tower
Chinese culture display in the lobby of Rudder Tower to celebrate the National Day—Calligraphy, face painting, music, and a photo exhibit: China-U.S. Relations-Looking Forward After 30 Years

9:00a.m.-2:00p.m., Thursday, October 1, Jane Long Middle School
Chinese Culture Display in Jane Long Middle School-four concurrent Chinese culture and language interactive sessions will be offered to 174 middle school students, including students who are taking the first Chinese class offered under a partnership with the Jane Long and the Confucius Institute at Texas A&M University  

8:00p.m.-11:00p.m., Friday, October 2, Commons
Chinese-Aggie Night –a traditional, popular A&M Friday evening event that involves movies, food and games will be redesigned to have a Chinese theme. A&M students will be invited to the Chinese-Aggie Night to interact with CI teachers, Chinese students and family, and to explore Chinese cultural games and display, watch Chinese movies and have Chinese food including moon cakes  

7:00p.m.-9:30p.m., Saturday, October 3, Room, 243 Rec Center  
Chinese National Day & Mid-Autumn Festival Variety Show, in conjunction with the Closing Ceremony of the China Week.

This week of celebration of Chinese culture is also to promote the China-U.S. Relations Conference that will be co-hosted by A&M October 21-23 in Beijing.  http://china-us.tamu.edu/
