Texas A&M Cadets Meet OUC National Defense Students

On the afternoon of May 26th, 2011, a friendly meeting was held between 24 cadets from Texas A&M University and some National Defense students OUC campus. The cadets were led by OUC professor, Ms. Wang Qingyun, who is currently also a professor in the Confucius Institute at Texas A&M University.

The communication covered a wide range of topics, including NBA, traveling, life on campus, etc. During the meeting, cadets often took out their cameras and cell phones to show OUC students their pictures in the US. The elaborate gifts from the national defense students brought a nice surprise to the cadets. In return, some of the cadets took the badges from their uniforms and gave them to their new Chinese friends.
After the meeting, led by Mr. Li, the Director of National Defense Education Department, the group toured Laoshan campus and the dorms of National Defense students.
On the basketball court, US and Chinese students had a memorable basketball match. The Chinese students were swift in movement and good in defense, while the TAMU cadets had advantage in height and stamina. OUC won the friendly game with a score of 50 to 42. During the match, a female cadet from TAMU drew a lot of compliments because of her talent. After the match, she said that it was an interesting and friendly match, which she enjoyed.
After the game, the students were taken to Shanhai restaurants, where authentic Chinese food was served.
