Confucius Institute welcomes new scholar

College Station, TX – The Confucius Institute at Texas A&M University welcomes Han Mei, a visiting teacher from Ocean University of China on February 13.
Ms. Han Mei has been a faculty member at Ocean University of China, the cooperative partner for the Confucius Institute, for sixteen years. She received her Master’s degree in Chinese Language of Literature from Shandong University in 1994, and is currently a PhD candidate at Shandong University. In addition to her regular job teaching Chinese as a second language classes at Ocean University, she has also taught Chinese at the National University of Laos. At Texas A&M University, she will be teaching two Chinese classes and will help coordinate community outreach programs and activities at the Confucius Institute.
The Confucius Institute at Texas A&M University is a collaborative partnership with Hanban (Office of Chinese Language Council International) and the Ocean University of China. This initiative allows Texas A&M University to rapidly expand its Chinese language teaching capacity, and the capacity of the university to begin training Chinese language teachers in the state of Texas, which will be a critical need in the coming years.
